Medico-legal & Workplace Rehabilitation

Expert occupational therapy assessments, reports, and workplace rehabilitation support for legal and insurance matters

Adapt Wellbeing provides specialist occupational therapy assessment and reporting services for medico-legal and insurance matters across South Australia.

My assessments are evidence-based, clearly structured, and prepared to meet the requirements of legal and insurance proceedings. I work with both plaintiff and defence instructing parties, and accept referrals from solicitors, insurers, case managers, and rehabilitation providers.

I understand that the quality, clarity, and timeliness of insurance and medico-legal reports matter. I am committed to all three.

Matters I accept:

I accept referrals across the following matter types:

Workers compensation:  Assessment of functional capacity, future support needs, and cost of care for workers compensation claims. I work with insurers, as well as both plaintiff and defence instructing parties and are familiar with South Australian workers compensation requirements.

Compulsory third party (CTP): Functional and care needs assessment for motor vehicle accident claims under the CTP scheme.

Medical negligence: Expert opinion on functional impact, care needs, and future costs arising from alleged medical negligence. I provide clear, defensible reports suitable for use in litigation.

NDIS disputes & appeals: Independent functional capacity assessment and expert opinion to support NDIS plan reviews, ART  appeals, or disputes regarding support needs and funding levels.

Income protection & life insurance: Functional capacity assessment to assist insurers and claimants in determining ongoing disability and capacity for work.

What I provide:

Medico-legal assessment & expert report:  An independent and comprehensive assessment of a person's injury, condition, or disability and its functional impact, including current capacity, future support needs, and associated costs of care. Delivered as a structured, clearly written report suitable for use in legal proceedings or insurance determinations.

Worksite assessment: An on-site evaluation of a person's work environment, job demands, and current capacity. Includes recommendations for workplace modifications, graduated return-to-work planning, or suitable duties. A written report is provided for the referrer, client, insurer, employer, and treating team.

Ergonomic assessment: Assessment and optimisation of a person's workstation setup to identify contributing risk factors and recommend adjustments. Can be employer-commissioned or part of an individual rehabilitation plan

Return to work planning & case management: Coordination of a structured, graduated return-to-work process involving the individual, employer, insurer, treating practitioners, and rehabilitation team. I manage communication and progress to keep the process on track and all parties aligned.

Future care needs & cost of care reporting:  Assessment and quantification of a person's future care and support needs and associated costs to be used in compensation and damages calculations. Reports are clearly structured and referenced to current pricing benchmarks.

Manual handling training:  Workplace training on safe lifting and handling techniques, tailored to specific industry or role requirements. Delivered to employer teams as a preventative or post-injury intervention.
