Women's Health & Perinatal Wellbeing
Specialist occupational therapy for women's health, perinatal wellbeing, and transition through matrescence.
Occupational therapy has a meaningful role to play in supporting women's health, and it's one that many people don't know about until they need it.
I work with women navigating pregnancy, the transition to motherhood, postnatal recovery, and the broader shifts in identity, capacity, and daily life that these bring. I also support women managing health conditions that are affecting how they function day-to-day.
You don't need a formal diagnosis to access my services. If something is affecting what you can do, or how you feel about yourself and your life, I can help.
Who I work with:
I see women at many different life stages and navigating various circumstances, including:
During pregnancy: Managing functional changes, fatigue, or mental health.
Post-natal period: Recovering from birth, adjusting to new roles, and managing a baby alongside your own health needs.
Matrescence: Navigating identity, relationships, and lifestyle shifts that come with becoming a mother
Health: Living with a chronic health condition, pain, or mental health difficulty that is affecting daily functioning
Injury and disability: Following a workplace injury, motor vehicle accident, or other event impacting capacity.
I work collaboratively with General Practitioners, midwives, obstetricians, psychologists, and other members of your care team to ensure a holistic approach
What I offer:
Perinatal & maternal wellbeing support: Individualised support for emotional wellbeing, occupational identity, and daily functioning during pregnancy and the transition to motherhood. I work with you to understand what's getting in the way and build practical strategies that fit your life, your goals, and your capacity right now.
Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assessment: A structured look at how you're managing everyday tasks including self-care, home management, caring for your baby or children, and community participation. I work with you to identify what's working, what's hard, and what support, equipment, or strategies could help. You receive a written report with clear recommendations.
Functional Capacity Assessment: A comprehensive assessment of your capacity across physical, cognitive, and daily living domains. Used for NDIS planning, insurance purposes, or when a specialist or GP has requested a formal report on your functional status.
Tailored therapy: A personalised, goal-focused program developed collaboratively with you. This might include practical strategies for managing daily tasks, energy and priority management, routine building, and working through the psychological and practical barriers affecting your participation in life.
Case management & care coordination: Where you have a broader care team such as a GP, midwife, psychologist, social worker, or allied health providers, I can coordinate communication and planning to make sure your support is collaborative and moving in the same direction.
How to access services:
A referral is not required for most services.
You are welcome to contact me directly to discuss your situation and whether I am the right fit for you. If you have a GP, letting them know that you are accessing occupational therapy means that they can support your care and potentially arrange a referral under a relevant care plan.
Funding pathways:
Private (self-funded): No referral required. Some private health funds cover occupational therapy as part of their extras. Check your policy for eligibility.
Medicare: Subsidised sessions can be accessed via a GP Chronic Disease Management Plan.
DVA: Gold Card and White Card (for eligible conditions) are accepted following referral from your GP.
NDIS: Where a plan includes capacity building supports and your needs are related to your disability.
Workers compensation / CTP: where your injury or condition relates to a workplace or motor vehicle accident, you can seek a referral from your case manager.
